Dinesh Chug’s Mittal Versus Mittal, a Shaila Film’s production, directed by Karan Razdan, is a film about man-woman relationship, especially in a marriage. It tackles the romantic, the emotional and the physical sides of their relation. Since marriage is a legal relation, the film speaks about love and the law through the film. The film is slated for a release sometimes in April or May.

The film is based on the is based on the Domestic Violence Act, 2005, which was passed by Parliament recently.

There are laws protecting the man and the woman in this relationship. Through Karan ( Rohit Roy ) and Mitali (Rituparna Sengupta) the actors in the film, the audience are taken on a journey which begins with love and culminates in war. The war of the roses. Law comes to play at the time of conflict thereafer.

And when the woman accuses the husband of rape, a lot of law books open up. Judgements of various courts come into play.

The law as in section s of IPC that deal with rape, does not give a woman the freedom to accuse her husband of **** (until and unless she is sixteen). The society says that a husband has all the freedom to enjoy his conjugal rights as and when he wants. In a lot of marriages it turns out to be a torture for the woman, but she cannot talk about her intimate details to even her loved ones. So where does the woman go..?

There has come a ray of hope in the form of domestic violence act in 2006. The film debates that in court, through the clash of two high profile lawyers. Karuna Maheshwari (Suchitra Krishnamurthy) and Harish Salunkhe (Gulshan Grover) actors.

Through Mittal Vs Mittal the film makers bring the man’s and woman’s point of view to the audience, without being judgemental.
